Fantasian author Larissa Pham did an in-depth interview with Adalena Kavanagh for Electric Literature. They discuss everything from desire, class, race, Lacan, mirror theory, new representations of Asian Americans in literature that reflect the reality of the world today, writing sex scenes, the evolution of Fantasian and its characters from the early stages to the finished novella, & the dom/sub dynamic among many other topics.

Pham on writing about identity: "This reminds me of that Junot Diaz quote, about thinking you’re a monster because you don’t have a reflection. Funnily enough, I always felt like a monster because I didn’t see my Asian American experience — which is most similar to Dolores’s — reflected anywhere. I wrote her partly to offer that."
